2024 Jeep Gladiator Makes Its Debut at the Detroit Auto Show
September 15 2023,
Earlier this week at the 2023 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the world got its first look at the 2024 Jeep Gladiator. This midsize pickup truck emerges as the most capable and refined iteration of the Gladiator series yet, boasting a plethora of enhancements from updated exterior styling to robust off-road functionalities.
Exterior and Design: An Evolution in Style
The 2024 Gladiator elevates its iconic exterior, debuting a redesigned seven-slot grille and windshield-integrated trail-ready stealth antenna. Seven new wheel designs have also been introduced. On the functionality front, the Gladiator offers Jeep’s trademark open-air experience with options for a folding windshield, three types of roofs, and even half or removable doors, reinforcing its unique position in the truck market.
Performance Metrics: Best-in-Class Capabilities
In terms of performance, the Gladiator continues to shine with best-in-class 4x4 payload, offering up to 1,725 pounds (782 kilograms) and a max towing capacity of up to 7,700 pounds (3,492 kilograms). These numbers were instrumental in Gladiator being ranked No. 1 for new vehicle quality among midsize trucks in the J.D. Power 2023 U.S. Initial Quality Study.
The interior of the truck has been refined, featuring a new instrument panel with Uconnect 5 system on a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen. This system also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The interior can be upgraded with 12-way power-adjustable front seats. More tech features are standard in the new Gladiator than ever before, including first- and second-row side-curtain airbags, forward collision warning, and advanced cruise control with stop functionality.
Two new models are introduced to the Gladiator family: the Mojave X and the Rubicon X. The Mojave X aims to be the "King of the Desert," featuring specially-tuned FOX shocks and Off-Road+ driving modes for different terrains. The Rubicon X is engineered to conquer the Rubicon Trail, with features like a Rock-Trac 4x4 system and Tru-Lok front and rear locking differentials.
An interesting software addition is the Jeep Adventure Guides, featuring Trails Offroad. It’s a system that delivers comprehensive off-road trail guides for 62 Jeep Badge of Honor trails and can be upgraded to include a full catalogue of over 3,000 trail guides. These are integrated into the truck's Uconnect 5 Nav system.
The 2024 Jeep Gladiator offers more than 85 active and passive safety features, with new additions like standard side-curtain airbags for both front and rear seats, forward collision warning, and advanced cruise control with stop.
Orders for the new Gladiator are open now, with vehicles expected to arrive in Canadian dealerships by the end of this year. With so many upgrades, it’s no wonder the 2024 Gladiator is being touted as both 100% truck and 100% Jeep. Whether it’s for towing heavy loads, off-road adventures, or simply cruising the city in open-air freedom, this new Gladiator seems equipped to handle it all.
